Mr. Kaplan co-founded Rainstorm Entertainment in 2002, having had a successful run as an original founder of Giant Leap Entertainment, the production company behind TERROR TRACT, the comedic horror flick starring the late John Ritter. Mr. Kaplan has arranged the financing and is serving as executive producer on FUCK, RED WHITE BLACK AND BLUE and BIG BAD WOLF. Kaplan Executive Produced THE BIG EMPTY (starring Jon Favreau, Daryl Hannah, Rachel Leigh Cook, Kelsey Grammer and Sean Bean). He has arranged distribution as a producer’s rep for LENNY THE WONDERDOG, KIDS IN AMERICA, RAZOR EATERS, and VALLEY OF THE HEARTS DELIGHT. Steve is also the co-founder of Launchpad Releasing, LLC, an independent theatrical film distribution company which released its first picture, KIDS IN AMERICA (starring Gregory Smith, Nicole Richie, Julie Bowen, Samantha Mathis and Adam Arkin) in over 700 theaters nationwide in October, 2005. In addition to producing, financing, selling and distributing feature films, Kaplan is a law professional with well-respected business insight, representing independent filmmakers, writers and directors at Gersh Kaplan LLP. After receiving his B.A. from U.C.L.A. in 1985, Kaplan attended Oxford University and Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, earning his J.D. in 1988. An avid scuba diver (over 1,000 dives), contemporary art collector, wine drinker, film fan, and traveler, Steve’s greatest passion is life, family, and fun.
